Weekend fun!

It's hard to belive the Christmas decorations have appeared in the stores and are going up everywhere else. We went to the Woodlands to see the sights. We walked along the waterfront by restaurants, office buildings, and other stores. It is a really nice place with ferry boats coming and going every fifteen minutes. Sofia was skipping and jumping down the path singing songs and talking with her imaginary friends. The weather was perfect with clouds and light wind. Sofia had fun throwing leaves into the canal from a taxi boat stop. Sometimes the wind would blow them right back at her, but she was undeterred and kept throwing.

was nervous that she would fall in. Caleb told her not to get so close because he didn't want to go swimming with all his clothes on.

Baby Caleb was content to ride it out in the double stroller. Sofia wanted to take this picture with the two bronze deer between two office buildings.

This is just opposite of the bike trails that we walked on.

There were so few people on the trails that nobody could take a family picture, but we found time to take them of just Caleb and I. It was also good for a little PDA with no repercusions.

All the paths were gently sloping which made it easy for the stroller. Sofia and her organic Trader Joes sucker ( from Grandma), best friends until its gone.

growing up too fast

Caleb is getting bigger every day. He gets really excited and wiggles around in his various chairs. He kicks his feet so hard sometimes he can kick himself right out onto the floor. He growls and groans and makes other noises to get my attention. He can roll over from front to back and back to front. He gets up on his knees but them lets himself back down again. He sucks his thumb with passion and every time I take it away he struggles to get it back in. He eats baby food, has lost interest in breast feeding, and has even tried some substantial foods like pretzels and crackers. His second tooth has been out for a few days now and everything he can reach goes strait into his mouth. He's quite the drooler and by the end of the day he is soaked through from chin to tummy.
He's such a cutie pie my little buddy Caleb.

MY CUTIE PIE

After watching the kids and working at home all day Caleb decided to try his hand at making pies. It was kind of a trial for what he might make for Thanksgiving.

He made a banana cream pie and a Key lime pie. The neighbors gave us tons of little key limes so that was a natural choice, but the banana cream pie was a whole different adventure. This afternoon we tried them both with some fresh whipped cream. The key lime pie was delicious, slightly tart, yet sweet, rich and creamy. The banana pie was ok, but the crust came out too thick and for some reason the bananas were tough instead of soft. The flavor was good, but it lacked the other complexities of banana cream pie.

You should've seen Sofia's face when she ate the Key lime pie, it was hilarious!

I'm grateful for my cutie pie husband who tries new things in the kitchen and even though the results are not always favorable, he keeps on doing it, trying to give more variety and flavor to the foods we eat. I love it.

WEDDING

Caleb's Co-worker Chris and his bride-to-be Alicia got married Friday 11-6. The ceremony was held on the porch of the Old Plantersville town hall. It was a quaint building with a small dining hall and kitchen. The ceremony was performed as we sat in chairs at the base of the porch. It was a lovely fall day with little to no wind and warm sunshine.

Next to the town hall was this small shack, in what might have been an old barbershop, judging by the faded red and white swirled pole out front. Sofia had a great time going up and down the stairs as we waited for the ceremony to begin. As you can see she had on a beautiful red dress with red bows and red shoes. Don't forget the doggies- she has to have at least one wherever she goes!

Our fiend Janet, who was also in attendance took some family photos of us on the barbershop stairs. While there were many taken few were chosen for this blog. It is a difficult task to get everyone's attention and smile pointed in the right direction.

Daddy and Sofia having fun together inside the reception.

Daddy with his little buddy Baby Caleb. Baby Caleb wearing his cowboy boots and behaving perfectly.

Daddy picking ripe pecans from a tree out front. Sofia was curious as to what daddy was doing. She even ate pieces of raw pecans straight from the tree.

Sofia playing with the lace decorations at the reception. She would get inside it then turn herself around and around. She literally did that for about two hours.

Sofia found a dancing partner in little Willy. They danced and played together. He was the only kid her age at the whole wedding and reception so it was good that they made friends.

Trick or Treat

Our ward had a Trunk or treat night friday. Just about everyone wore there costimes. Our bishop wore a really convincing pirate costume. Sofia had two costumes this year. One is a nyusta Inca, or Inca Princess and the other is a bailarina costume. Depending on the temperature of the night was the deciding factor for which one she would wear. That night was a little chilly so she wore this beautiful outfit her grandma Leonor sent her. Leonor actually bought this for Sofia right after she was born and it has not fit her until now. Baby Caleb was dressed as a teddy bear. He is the cutest little guy. This outfit was great because it made him so much more snuggly and it was also very thick to keep him warm.

Here Sofia was modeling her princees outfit for our neighbor Mona.

My birthday

October 27th was Elizabeths birthday. She got all dolled up for our date. We dropped the kids at a babysitter and headed over to Studio Movie Grill. The idea is to order and eat dinner while you watch a movie. Each row in the theatre is wider and in front of each couple of chairs is a table. When you are ready to order or need service you have a light up coaster to announce you need something. The food was pretty good and they actually came fairly fast. We watched the movie Couples Retreat. I'm not sure which was better the food or the movie, but we had a great time.
