My busy boy

If Sofia is a princess Caleb is the prince. he is the prince of wigglyness. He always has to be touching something. He is curious about electronic items with buttons he can push. He also makes a lot of noises with his mouth, screams, grunts, growls, giggles, laughs, squeals, and so many more. He is only quiet when sleeping, and even then he makes noise rolling around in the crib. He smiles easily and can be held by almost anyone. He has two teeth on bottom and two more appeared today on the top with another two not far behind. When daddy comes home from work Caleb gets all excited and has acquired the ability to clap his hands, and does so frequently.

Mom this thing erased my files!

Princess Sofia and her hair

Sofia is such a little princess! In the mornings she can pick what she wants to wear and most times it matches. She likes to dress up, and wear pretty, frilly, and stylish clothes. Maybe this is a bad omen for things to come? Mommy has been trying new braiding techniques out. Its been fun trying them out, good thing she has a student in training in Sofia. Although Sofia patiently waits until her hair is done, as soon as its over she almost always tries to take it out.

Trying her best to smile, sorta failing.

Look how light her hair has gotten.

Zoo, bath time together, so cold, and troublemaker

Sofia, baby Caleb and I went to the Houston Zoo on MLK day. We got there early to be first to see all the animals Sofia recognizes from books, movies, and cartoons. Each new animal brought Sofia such excitement. She would announce happily the name and sound of each different animal.

As little Caleb can sit up straight, now he can enjoy bath time with sister Sofia. He splashes and wiggles around before, during and after being washed. They both love the water so much they never want to leave when they are all done.

A couple of weeks ago we had quite the cold spell here. There were four days in a row with below freezing temps at night, one day even tying the record for coldest night ever at 19 degrees. One morning Caleb tried to wash the ice off his windshield with water from the hose, but nothing came out. A few days later we found this large icicle right next to the water spigot.
hopefully it will be warmer from here on out till spring.

Sofia loves to play with brother. Here she though it would be fun to apply some lip balm on her lips and face. then she did the same to baby brother who sure didn't complain. This is how I found them after only a few minutes on their own.

Christmas and new Years in California

We were fortunate enough to visit Caleb's parents in California this year. We had many family outings including Sunset Beach where Sofia enjoyed playing in the waves with Daddy and digging in the sand. We also played at his parents house outside in the cars, indoors with cousins, uncles, aunts, and even great grandparents (Papa Severson's parents). It was a special sunday nursery with only her cousins there to share it. Sofia also played the Wii for the first time with cousin Larry.

Even though both kids and Caleb got sick, we still thoroughly enjoyed our time there, visiting friends & family, eating great food, seeing shows, watching and playing football, and just spending quality family time together.

Santa and Rudolf

This was the first time Sofia was not afraid of Santa. What a difference a year makes. She was called by this Santa to be Rudolf and lead the sleigh. She was shy a little, but had so much fun. This was a friends birthday party with a real live Santa. Sofia loves everything about Christmas. She loves to watch Rudolf, the Grinch, Frosty the Snowman, and the Little Drummer boy.

We have explained to her about writing a letter to Santa so that she can request whatever she wants, but she says, No, no Mami, no santa presents. Its hilarious. She is also really into the Nativity scenes and has one sheep in particular that she won't let go without a fight. Christmas is her favorite time of the year.

My peruvian hat

My mom sent this hat along with other gifts for the kids. He really enjoyed playing in it. He smiles to everyone and giggles while coughing.

He gained the ability to sit on his own about a week ago and can almost crawl.
He's growing so fast. Slow down little buddy!

He is also more into making faces than before. We can tell he is becoming quite the character.

CTR 7 Goal achievement party

My primary class, CTR 7 had a party at my house on Saturday. They had a goal to bring their scriptures to class every week, and if they had forgotten they would get them from the library. They did such a good job in achieving this goal so I made a party to celebrate their hard work.

Russell Rice, Kelly Vargas, Jacob Long, Howie Seawell and Ella Wagley converged on my house Saturday morning. The first activity was them decorating a cake that they had to spread frosting, pour the sprinkles, and place the candies. We then headed outside for drop the clothes pins in the jar. They stood on the ladder and aimed as best they could for the jar below. Kelly and Jacob were especially good at this one. Then they played squirt out the candles. It was boys against girls and the girls won every time, which was somewhat frustrating for the boys. The next game was pop the balloons. My husband Caleb had blown them all up the night before. The first few came out the normal size, but as he got winded the balloons got smaller and smaller. This made the popping of the balloons that much harder, but the kids found new ways to get the job done. Probably the funnest game was the Christmas songs Karaoke. They each took turns using the fake microphone, but all of them would sing along and try to sing the songs they had not sang before.

We had such fun.
